Candido Donates N800,000 To Fire Victims

The chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council(AMAC) Hon. Abdullahi Adamu Candido has donated  N800,000 to victims of the Lugbe FHA Market fire inferno.

According to a statement signed by the head information and public relations,AMAC, Mrs Patience Olaloye,  the donation  is to cushion the effect of the fire inferno that ravaged the timber sheds and some adjoining sheds during the incident.

The Chairman, who was represented by the Council Secretary, Hon. Haladu Adamu said that the council shares in their grieves and losses while praying that God Almighty would aid them to bear the loss.

Adamu advised the traders to stop converting shops to private residences which threatens lives, businesses and properties.

Adamu further disclosed that the timber market will be relocated to a temporary site to enable the council provide adequate infrastructure and basic amenities to forestall future occurrences.

The statement stated that due dwindling revenue base of the council, the management had intimated FCT Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on the losses arising from the unfortunate inferno for further assistance.

Responding on behalf of the traders the chairman of the Building Material Traders Association, FHA Lugbe Branch, Mr. Festus Obieze, appreciated the chairman for his kindness and the financial support of the Council to them.

Obieze therefore, pledged the association’s total support to the present administration in the Abuja Municipal Area Council.
